The Advanced Worksite Traffic Management Re-accreditation course delivers you the information required to successfully renew your accreditation here in Western Australia. The accreditation is issued by Main Roads WA and delivered by Perth Traffic Training in partnership with Star Training and Assessing RTO 21830.

Some students may be required to provide some post course work to complete their assessments.

Course Description

Revision of key points of the accreditation with information regarding any changes to the relevant standards, codes, legislation and general work practices in the past three years.

Relating to the following units:

RIIRIS402E Carry out the risk assessment process

RIICWD503E - Prepare traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes 

 

Student Requirements (optional)

  • Laptop, PC, Mac or tablet with internet connection (optional)

  • Copy of AS1742.3 – 2019 Manual of uniform traffic control devices traffic control for works on roads
  • Main Roads WA Traffic Management for works on roads Code of Practice February 2021

COURSE PRE-REQUISITES

1.       Construction White Card/Safety Awareness Card

Provide photographic evidence of your Construction White Card / Safety Awareness Card via email prior to course.  

2.       USI number (www.usi.gov.au) and a current driver’s licence.

 Must have evidence from the usi.gov.au website of your number sent to us either by email or SMS (text) for validation, prior to course

3.       Evidence of accreditation in RIIWHS302D or E Implement a traffic management plan (BWTM)

4.       Evidence of accreditation in RIIRIS402D Carry out the risk assessment process

5.       Evidence of accreditation in RIICWD503D Prepare work zone traffic management plan

6.      A copy of a detailed Traffic Management Plan completed in accordance with Main Roads template document or equivalent, in the past twelve months that has been implemented to an Event or Worksite, which they have developed.

The plan must include multiple traffic guidance schemes with speed reductions

  • Works on road with a posted speed of equal to or greater than 80km/h with multiple speed changes into a 40km/h worksite.
  • Minimum of THREE stages of works – 3 Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS)
  • Aftercare Traffic Guidance Scheme (TGS)
  • Incident Contingency Plan - as per MRWACOP 6.10
  • Fixed Notification TGS

    Please ensure that you email a copy of the TMP no less than two days prior to the course for review.

    7.       A copy of an onsite inspection of a roadwork or event traffic management site within the last twelve months – Please ensure that you email a copy of your onsite inspection no less than two days prior to the course for review

     

    IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE ABOVE PRE-REQUISITES ARE SUBMITTED BY EMAIL PRIOR TO THE COURSE. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN ACCREDITATION BEING WITHHELD

     

    If you are unable to produce a sample of a Traffic Management Plan that you have reviewed, designed and / or approved within the past 12 months an assignment will then need to be submitted by you.

     

    If your primary role is limited to reviewing and/or approving Traffic Management Plans.

    If your primary role is limited to conducting Compliance or Suitability Audits at a Workzone or at an Event, in a Roadworks Traffic Manager (RTM) capacity.

     The applicant shall, including points 1 to 7 in the previous table, submit a copy of two (2) detailed Traffic Management Plans that have been implemented at an Event or Worksite that they had reviewed or approved, together with their review comments, for assessment.

    The plans must include multiple traffic control diagrams and speed reductions. All evidence shall have been within the last 12 months of seeking their Main Roads WA Traffic Management re-accreditation – Please ensure that you email a copy of the relevant TMPs no less than two days prior to the course for review. 

    If you are unable to produce a sample of a Traffic Management Plan that you have reviewed, designed and / or approved within the past 12 months an assignment will then need to be submitted by you.

    Literacy and Numeracy

    Students must have basic literacy and numeracy skills in the English language to complete assessments, understand traffic guidance schemes and documentation and communicate effectively in a traffic management environment.

    Main Roads WA Traffic Management Accreditation Application Information

    Period of Accreditation

    The Accreditation is valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of issue, following which a re-application will be required.

    Proof of Identity (POI)

    Applicants can prove their identity with any one of the following current full POI documents:

    • Photographic driver’s licence issued within Australia or from a a country approved by the department of Transport
    • Australian passport
    • Document of identity issued by the Passport Office
    • Photographic identity card issued by Main Roads, Australian Defence Force, Australian Federal, State or Territory Police Service
    • WA photographic (security) licence issued by or cleared with the WA Police Service 

    Public Access Accreditation Listing

    For the purpose of Accreditation verification a registry of the following information

    will be made available on the Main Roads website for viewing

    by the general public. This includes

    • Graduate’s Name,
    • Level of Accreditation,
    • Accreditation reference number,
    • Date of Accreditation and the Expiry date 

    What you will receive upon successful completion

    RTO Statement of Attainment

    MRWA Certificate of Accreditation valid for three years from date of issue

    MRWA traffic management ID card with photo for three years from date of issue
